L.A. Remixed

The exhibit Light / Motion / Dreams featured awesome video installations focused on Los Angeles and its history. This event had VJs remixing the content playing in some of the installations, as well as live bands/DJs with VJs playing alongside.
Video Performers included Mekanix, MC This, Todd Sali, Takeshi Murata, Alex Lorge, Fil Ruting, and Aaron Arendt.
Music by Breakestra, Dublab Sound System, SA-RA Creative Partners, Kutma vs Nobody, Tag-team Daedelus, Frosty, Farmer Dave and Carlos Nino, Languis, David J (Bauhaus), Project Sandro and Reid Speed.

It was very cool to see VJing being enjoyed by such a large and diverse crowd. The exhibit itself was awesome and quite inspirational. I especially liked the mirror box that produced the illusion of video being projected onto a 20-foot sphere, manned by Mekanix (This article’s title image depicts that exhibit).
This is a great first step for VJs. I’d really like to see a regular event happening at a museum – perhaps MOCA or Redcat at the Walt Disney Concert Hall would be interested.
